Immediately transferred to the US Navy as an R4D-6 with the Bureau No 50783. Modified to R4D-6S standard and remained in service long after WW2, being re-designated as a C-47J in 1962.

Intended to be a C-47B (43-49012) for the USAAF, the aircraft was delivered to the Navy as an R4D-6, serial 50761. It was later re-designated as an R4D-6Q. It was transferred to the Army in 1958, then in 1962 was again re-designated as an EC-47J. After retirement from military service it was transferred to the US Departmet of Agriculture in 1976.
