3 天之前 · The new airport terminal opened in 1954 was dominated by an extremely distinctive arch at the entrance, not entirely dissimilar to today’s structure at Wembley Stadium in London. Sadly this supposedly listed feature was abruptly demolished along with the rest of the now disused site in the 1970s and replaced by a Tesco store.

Renfrew was an aircraft acceptance park for the Weir aircraft scheme on clydeside and the Ministry of Munitions. Scottish Aviation were at Renfrew during the war, the one from 1914 is a completely different company. From 1952 the company serviced Sabres and CF-100s of the RCAF they moved to Prestwick in 1960 because Renfrew was too small.
