The Red Bull RB8 [6] is a Formula One racing car designed by Red Bull Racing which competed in the 2012 Formula One season. [7] The car was driven by reigning World Drivers' Champion Sebastian Vettel, and Mark Webber, with former Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Sébastien Buemi filling the role of test driver.

The RB8 – still powered by a V8 Renault engine – had a stepped nose due to safety concerns. There was also stricter control over exhaust blowing. However, the Team still found a way to exploit the exhaust gasses and developed the aerodynamics in other areas.

Despite being a direct evolution of the 2011 World Championship winning RB7 the RB8 regulation changes have forced Newey and his team at Milton Keynes, England to develop new design concepts.

Q: Would you say the RB8 is still an evolution of the RB7 or did you have to rethink many aspects? A: I'd say RB8 is the fourth generation of what started with the 2009 car, the RB5. So I guess this is the great grandson of that car.
