In the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, Lalu Prasad's RJD became the largest party with a total of 81 seats. He along with his partner Nitish Kumar of JD (U) had the absolute majority to form a government in Bihar.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (abbreviated as RJD; translation: National People's Party) is an Indian political party, mainly based in the state of Bihar. The party was founded in 1997 by Lalu Prasad Yadav. [6][7]

Lalu Prasad also served as the Railway Minister of India from 2004 to 2009. He is a Member of Parliament of India for Saran (Chhapra) and National President of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). His most notable achievement has been the financial turnaround of the Indian Railways.
