The RM made a great off-road bike. That world is traditionally dominated by European bikes like KTM and Husqvarna, but the Suzuki RM 250 made its mark there.Between the efforts of Randy Hawkins, Rodney Smith, Steve Hatch and Paul Edmondson, the RM or its blood brother the RMX captured 16 National Championships in GNCC, Enduro and Hare Scrambles.

Suzuki introduced the RM series of motocross models in 1975, ”RM” standing for Racing Model”. The range quicly stretched out from 50 to 400cc and became very successful. A few years later the Full Floater swingarm was introduced and water-cooled engines came along in the early 80's — and the developement of the RM models continues even today.

1976: The true RM line is born. The RM250A is a completely new bike with long-travel suspension that is considered to be the best of any production bike available. The 125 and 370 versions are new as well. The RM is on top, but Yamaha isn’t standing still. Competition between the two companies is intense, with Honda joining in later.

2014年3月21日 · the 90 rm 250 was a pretty good machine IMO, had a friend that had one back in the day, completely stock, with just clickers was totally rideable, slighty soft but they all were. One of the better suspensions in it's day.

2009年12月17日 · After I sold the RM's I got sellers remorse & lucked out on a fairly local 83 CR250. Still have it, great machine once you learn its quirks. Got a 480 too but I can't start it.

1980年4月1日 · The old ones, with recessed heads, in the past have caused broken hubs. The new bolts have thicker heads and the alien wrench head size has been increased from 5 to 6mm. A washer is also used...

2015年8月26日 · Looks like the newer rm250s got like 20-30 pounds lighter. The old school RM's look sick. Can't beat the old school. Your 00 RM250 is not 180lbs, try 220ish similar to the newer ones. The 00 is fine, a lot of guys really liked the conventional forks from the late 90s RMs. The best year RM250 is the one sitting in your garage! ?
