Reaktionsmotor 12 (RM12) is a low-bypass afterburning turbofan jet engine developed for the Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter. A version of the General Electric F404, the RM12 was produced by Volvo Aero (now GKN Aerospace Engine Systems).

År 2003 infördes ett nytt EBK-system i RM 12 med kylda flamhållare då de gamla flamhållarna hade för kort livslängd. Det nya EBK-systemet utvecklades helt av VFA och uppmärksammades även internationellt. För byte av de gamla flamhållarna måste hela motorn monteras ur flygplanet.

GE and Volvo Aero Corporation have developed the RM12 to power the Saab/BAE Systems JAS39 Gripen, a multi-role fighter, attack and reconnaissance aircraft. The RM12-powered Gripen serves the Swedish Air Force and is also exported to South Africa, the Czech Republic.

The new EBK system was developed entirely by VFA and also received international attention. To replace the old flame holders, the entire engine must be removed from the aircraft.
