In the British Army, there are two warrant ranks, warrant officer class 2 (WO2) and warrant officer class 1 (WO1), the latter being the senior of the two. It used to be more common to refer to these ranks as WOII and WOI (using Roman instead of Arabic numerals).

Most Royal Navy and Royal Marine ranks are straightforward - Boy to Chief Petty Officer, Midshipman to Admiral of the Fleet, but in the middle are the sometimes puzzling Warrant Officers, a rank that was only discontinued in 2010. Following are a list of what I believe to be the Warrant Officer ranks existing in the World War 1 period.

The Warrant Officer to the Royal Navy (WORN), previously known as the Warrant Officer of the Naval Service (WONS), is the most senior warrant officer and rating of the Royal Navy.

All subjective anyway - in a NATO draft I (as an LRO, supposedly equivalent to a USN PO 3rd Class, supervised a USN PO 2nd class and a USN PO 3rd Class. 2021年2月12日 · How is it that a Lt RN is in fact a higher rank than a WO1, yet is on almost every occasion, afforded fewer perks, clout and lee-way? If you really are a WO1 then you already know the answer. A WO1 is at the top oh his tree and should have many years of experience.

The current incumbent, WO1 (GSM) Andrew John Stokes, Grenadier Guards, was the Academy Sergeant Major (Section 5.3.2) of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst from March 2012 to February 2014. The previous post holder was WO1 (GSM) Bill Mott (Welsh Guards), OBE and MVO, who had been in post since 2002.
