Standard Method Performance Requirements (SMPRs®) are a unique and novel concept for the analytical methods community. SMPRs are voluntary consensus standards, developed by stakeholders, that prescribe the minimum analytical performance requirements for classes of analytical methods.
The AOAC/IUPAC protocol for interlaboratory studies requires the use of a minimum of 8 laboratories examining at least 5 materials to obtain a reasonable estimate of this variability parameter, which has been shown to be more or less independent of analyte, method, and matrix. By definition sR does not enter into single-laboratory validation.

Precision obtained (RSD) for the digestion methods: AOAC
... improved digestion conditions are compared to the AOAC method 2015.01 23 in Table 3, which shows the RSD obtained for the two methods. These results were obtained for spiked samples to 100...
AOAC Method Validation (August 29, 2018) - Page 41
Background X An OMB Working Group created to consider the question of RSDi recommended the following: The RSDi of a method should not exceed 80% of the reproducibility standard deviation, or in AOAC’s case, no more than 80% the performance requirement specified for the relative standard deviation of reproducibility (RSDR) in the applicable SMPR.

AOAC Method Validation (August 29, 2018)
Background X Some method developers have been submitting method validation manuscripts containing data for repeatability (RSDr) that is actually intermediate precision (RSDi). X Traditional RSDr data consists of replicate analysis to a common sample by a single analysis, using a single instrument, over a short duration (a day).
