Ragged Top is the biological and geological crown jewel of the monument for sightseeing and wildlife viewing, such as the Desert bighorn sheep and the desert tortoise. Ragged Top contains the greatest richness of species within the Sonoran Desert, including 401 plant species. [4]

Ragged Top is the craggy summit 25 miles northwest of Tucson and south of Picacho Peak and the Picacho Mountains. From I-10 it looks as if it would require ropes and some fancy routefinding to get to the top, but there is a class 2 gully on the north side that provides easy access through the summit cliffs.

Proceed cautiously on this 4.0-mile out-and-back trail near Marana, Arizona. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.

2005年11月14日 · Ragged Top is a very distinctive range/peak in the northern part of the Ironwood National Monument. There are no trails here at this time so this hike is a short but tough scramble and bushwhack through pristine desert, then up a gulley of your choice for simply wicked scenery.

The Desert Bighorn Sheep Management Area includes Ragged Top and the Silverbell and Waterman Mountains. Even YOU can startle a lamb and cause it to fall to its death, injure itself, or become lost from its parents.
