Ralf Arzts art is foremost inspired by modern photo art, where he moves in the borderland between painting and photography to find his own artistic expression. His goal is not to create photo realistic art, but an imagery which brings the observer far beyond the world of photography.

In my painting I aim to create a feeling of modern photo art, thus combining the best of both worlds. The photo’s ability to capture the soul and charisma of a fleeting moment; the painting with its surface, finish and exclusive feel that the photo could never hope to reproduce.

Ralf Arzt was born in Stockholm in 1963, and he both lives and works today in Malmö. His paintings have a strong base in the classic modernism, but he also gets inspiration from the old style of painting. He himself calls his style "naivistic inspired realism". He recognizes himself as self studied despite his studies of art in France.
