
Reading Blue Mountain and Northern 2102 - Wikipedia
Originally built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in March 1925 as an "I-10sa" 2-8-0 "Consolidation" type locomotive for the Reading Company (RDG), No. 2102 was rebuilt by RDG's own locomotive shops as a 4-8-4 "Northern" in September 1945, and it was used for pulling heavy coal trains for the RDG until being retired from revenue service in 1956.

Original #2102 RDG Shops, 1945, rebuilt from 2-8-0's Specs - 70" drivers, impressive 240 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 441,300 lb, tractive effort of 68,000 lb. #2102 along with sisters 2100. 2101 and 2124 have survived. #2102 is undergoing a rebuilt and restoration slated to be done by the end of 2020.

2024年8月25日 · Reading 2102 is a 4-8-4 type steam locomotive that predominantly moved anthracite coal over the Reading system until its 1957 retirement. The engine became famous for leading the company's popular "Iron Horse Rambles" during the early 1960s, and continued occasionally pulling special fan trips during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.
