2024年10月21日 · Today only three of the two-seat variants survived, and the best is believed to be “Red 8” (Werk/nr 110305), the only genuine Me 262 night-fighter to survive the war. It is now on display at the Johannesburg War Museum, complete with its radar array and drop tanks intact.

2013年6月30日 · From two photographs, we can identify the complete Messerschmitt 262 aircraft line-up. From right to left, respectively front to back, these were: · Me262 B-1a/U1, W.Nr. 110305, Red 8 of 10./NJG11. This aircraft made its way to South Africa and is currently on display at the Ditsong National Museum of Military History in Saxonwold, Johannesburg.

The aircraft number, 8, is red with a white outline. In line with other Me 262s from NJG 11, the number is located on the mid-forward fuselage but it is much smaller than those observed on its sister aircraft.

Surrendered to RAF at Schleswig-Jagel, Germany, it was transferred to the USAAF, becoming Watson's Whizzers '999', before being shipped to the US. Evaluated as FE-610, but later e-serialed T-2-610 it was named "Ole Fruit Cake" and "Schwalbe".
