Thanks to the progressive vision and thinking of leaders in the Fargo community, the Red River Zoo was constructed and opened to the public in May of 1999. The Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and a premier attraction for the city of Fargo and surrounding area.
Meet Our Animals – Red River Zoo
The Red River Zoo features birds on exhibit in multiple areas. Aside from main animal exhibits like the Eagle exhibit, Brown Eared Pheasant exhibit, and White Naped Crane exhibit, we have the Asian Aviary, North American Marsh, and our new Children’s Zoo Farm.

The Red River Zoo is a zoo in Fargo, North Dakota. The zoo's first 8 acres (3.2 ha) opened in the spring of 1999. It gained accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in 2006. The zoo currently sits on 33 acres (13 ha) that was once a farm owned by the George Anderson family, also known as Red River Ranch.
