The RGG/RG motif of nucleolin associates with the hepatitis C virus protein NS5B, whereas in hnRNP A1, the RGG/RG motif is responsible for interactions with the HIV protein Rev (Hadian et al., 2009; Kusakawa et al., 2007).

In this review, we focus on the biochemical properties of the RGG motif, its molecular interactions with RNAs and proteins, and roles of the posttranslational modification in modulating their interactions.
