The second performance of Abramović’s Rhythm Series is Rhythm 5, which was performed in the Student Cultural Center in Belgrade in 1974. In Rhythm 5, Abramović constructed a five-pointed communist star from wood and wood shavings, hence the title Rhythm 5.

Marina Abramović’s series of performances, known as Rhythms, undertaken in 1973 and 1974, use the artist’s body to examine the tensions between abandonment and control.
