2010年8月18日 · A rib relay is nothing more than an electrically controlled switch. When voltage is applied ti its coil, a set of contacts closes. Same as any other relay. The main difference here is the rib relay has a 1/2" hub on it that can be installed in a 1/2" KO. Other relays have to be mounted with screws or a DIN rail.

2024年5月4日 · The RIB serving as a motor contactor should not be an issue as long as you stay under the contact rating for inductive loads. But the 2.4 amps at 120VAC for a 1/3hp motor does not sound right. Common motor data charts show 7.2 amps at 120VAC and 3.6 amps at 220VAC for 1/3 horsepower motor.

It looks like it is intended to be mounted on a knockout outside on the breaker panel. However the low voltage coil feed is bundled in with the high voltage tails, as well there is the 24DC incoming from a transformer.

2024年2月27日 · I am using RIB relays for my outside landscape lighting. The Caseta switches are only 650 watts and cost $50 / $60 bucks. The RIB can handle a short and are cheaper. I thought the thermostat has to manually open all power legs or you need a disconnect within sight. Or remote lockable.

2024年12月31日 · I recently updated the RIB relay and transformer. I did a manual reset and the gas flow to the grill continued. However, 3 days later and the owner has been having to manually reset the relay everyday to get the gas to flow. No alarm trigger or error, new RIB relay, new transformer. Could it simply be a bad relay ?

2021年2月3日 · This way the relay module is supervised and controllable by the panel. For example, only the smoke detectors in the rooms served by the dampers will cause it to close. The RIB is powered by the 120v for the damper. I don’t put anything on my 24v panel power that isn’t a Notifier device.

2024年2月4日 · I tried a RIB 2421B but I would need a separate doorbell transformer to power the control wire going to the alarm contacts (Which I failed to realize before I went to install it). So then I tried the OONO F1057 which has a built in transformer but it is only normally closed so the light was on when the drawer was closed.

2019年9月13日 · The reason for the relay is because the Caseta switch isn't rated for 1600W. Rather than energize the lights directly, the Caseta will energize the relay coil, the lighting load will be switched by the relay contacts. So if there's an existing switch, you'd lift the two wires from the switch terminals and connect them to the yellow and orange.

2024年12月10日 · You could use momentary switches and a latching relay and only two wires across the warehouse, so the relay coil isn't operating continuously. RIB makes suitable relays for this kind of thing, good quality, made in USA or Canada, you can pick one that will work with a doorbell transformer for control power.

2022年10月26日 · The RIB is short for 'Relay In A Box'. It's the thing outside the starter on the lower right. Most HVAC controls are 24AC so most likely the RIB relay was used to make the 24AC control the 120 or 240 starter coil.
