Nonhost Resistance of Rice to Rust Pathogens
2011年9月7日 · Unlike cereal rusts, the rust pathogen (Melampsora lini) of the dicotyledenous plant flax (Linum usitatissimum) rarely successfully infects rice due to an apparent inability to recognize host-derived signals. Morphologically abnormal infection structures are produced and appressorial-like structures often don't coincide with stomata.
No rust for rice – Rice Today
2011年1月7日 · Dr. Hei Leung (right), IRRI scientist, explains the screening of rice germplasm and mutants to understand why rice is resistant to rust species. (Photo: Chris Quintana) Wheat gets rust. Maize (corn) gets rust. Also barley, millet, triticale, and oats. In fact, all cereals, except rice, are susceptible to rust.
Nonhost resistance of rice to rust pathogens - PubMed
Rice responds with an active, nonhost resistance (NHR) response that prevents fungal sporulation and that involves callose deposition, production of reactive oxygen species, and, occasionally, cell death. Genetic variation for the efficacy of NHR to wheat …
Nonhost resistance to rust pathogens – a continuation of continua
2014年12月10日 · Nonhost Interactions of Rice. Five cereal rust species (Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici, Puccinia hordei, Puccinia triticina, Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici, and Puccinia sorghi) were shown to infect rice and produce all the infection structures necessary for colonization, including haustoria (Figure 2E).
2011年4月20日 · Rice responds with an active, nonhost resistance (NHR) response that prevents fungal sporulation and that involves callose deposition, production of reactive oxygen species, and, occasionally, cell death. Genetic variation for the efficacy of NHR to wheat stem rust and wheat leaf rust was observed.
Determining the basis of nonhost resistance in rice to ... - Springer
2010年11月2日 · Our research effort has focused on screening for increased growth of cereal rust using natural and induced variants of rice. Two collections of rice mutants, T-DNA insertional mutants and chemical/irradiation-induced mutants, and diverse germplasm accessions are being screened for compromised NHR to cereal rusts.

2016年11月30日 · As the model of monocotyledonous plant, rice is unusual in not being affected by a rust pathogen (Ayliffe et al., 2011b). Several studies indicated that rust fungi have some potential to infect rice and trigger host defense responses such as production of reactive oxygen species and accumulation of Pathogenesis-related proteins ( Ayliffe et al ...
Cytological and molecular analysis of nonhost resistance in rice to ...
2014年12月30日 · This study reports the cytological and molecular features of rice NHR to Bgt and Ptr, which provide useful information for further determinations of the specific mechanisms in rice to cereal powdery mildew and rust fungi.
Proteomic Analysis of Rice Nonhost Resistance to - MDPI
2014年11月25日 · Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the only widely cultivated gramineous crops that cannot be infected by rust fungi. To decipher the molecular basis of rice nonhost resistance (NHR) to Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), the causal agent of wheat stripe rust, proteomic analysis was performed using the two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE ...
