Rio Pacheco is the road manager and technical engineer for Jem and The Holograms, and is a long-time childhood friend and boyfriend of Jerrica Benton. He was voiced by Michael Sheehan. Rio is a serious but honest and hardworking young man.

In 1986 Hasbro released a Rock and Roll video fashion doll line called JEM. JEM was really Jerrica disguise by a hologram. JEM was the lead singer of JEM and the Holograms; the Holograms included Jerrica's sister Kimber, and foster sisters Aja and Shana.

Glitter 'n Gold Jem/Jerrica and Rio had glittery golden stands. Jetta had a clear stand with black glitter. As for different shapes, Raya's stand was made larger and with a hole for her drums, while the Starlight Girls leg holder were made thinner to hold their legs, and both of Rio's stands had a thicker leg holder.

"JEM thinks Rio's the coolest in his Glitter 'N Gold tux and sunglasses! And he has an extra surprise for his favorite star, a long stem rose!". Rio has a new golden style that corresponds with Jem, aswell as a rose for Jem.

Rio Pacheco is a character in the IDW Jem and The Holograms comics series. He is Jerrica's love interest and a reporter at The Score.

Dolls in the toy line included band members of Jem and the Holograms, Jem's boyfriend Rio, Synergy, band members of rival band The Misfits, and Jem's friends the Starlight girls. There were also doll clothes and accessories, play sets, sticker albums, and other merchandise featuring Jem and the Holograms.
