2012年4月9日 · rip rap is where the current hits the shore (usually a rocky shoreline)and deflects the current making a bunch of turbulance or “rip-rap”. the best example i can give is at baypoint in red wing just down-river from the no wake zone. that rocky shore line is considered rip rap.

2018年1月2日 · Like the rippin rap but don’t overlook the slab rap. Just wish they made the slab rap in the ghost finish. Most guys over work these lures. Guys that use subtle gentle lifts on the whole do better. Only rip hard to get attention use sparingly. The Slab Rap may even be a more effective fish-catcher.

2025年1月27日 · Right near the boat launch isn’t a bad spot. Across the river along the rip rap near the dam is a good cold water spot. It’s a little dicey making that walk though. Come March and through April the shore bite really picks up. The dam all the way to the confluence has good shore fishing then. Thanks for the info!

2017年9月7日 · I have a couple of rippin raps that got broke off due to snagging some timber. I can’t seem to find the size of the front hook and back hook for the size 6 rippin rap. (2 1/2) I’m just looking to replace with the same size as what it comes with (VMC black nickel hooks).

2003年10月31日 · The more time you spend on rip rap you will find that some shorelines have no rhyme or reason to why the fish hold there. I have rip rap areas on pool 4 that are about 1 mile long, I will get fish along the whole stretch. The key to areas like this is the whole 1 mile has 20’+ depths really close by. Hope this helps!

2015年10月29日 · LOVE fishing rippin raps and jigging raps in open water. 90% of the time I use #6 rippin raps and #7 jigging raps. I generally pitch the rippin rap and vertical jig the jigging rap. I use a 68mxf St. Croix with braided line and a flouro leader for both applications.

2018年1月4日 · What kind of ice rod are you guys using? I’ve been using a medium light rod and I can’t feel the rippin rap size 3 or the slab rap whatsoever when I jig them. I’ve resorted to other lures on the meantime. I like a stout rod when using them. I want as much direct control over the action and the ability for a good hook set.
