You can try modprobe -r which can resolve some dependency issues for you, while rmmod will do nothing else than trying to unload the module. Also, there is an explicit kernel option on forced module unloading because it's hardly ever a good idea to do so.

2020年1月30日 · Since this module is currently in use by another module, you can't. If you don't need it anymore, you can remove the nvidia driver from your system. Another method would be to forcefully remove it with rmmod -f, but I would not recommend doing so.

2020年3月26日 · modinfo does not care whether the module is loaded or not - if you give it a module name (instead of a full pathname to a .ko file), it finds the module file on disk based on the current /etc/modprobe.d configuration and reports information on it.

Great info! I had Nvidia drivers failing to run CUDA programs and typically sudo modprobe -r nvidia_uvm && sudo modprobe nvidia_uvm is the correct solution but this time got FATAL: Module nvidia_uvm is in use even though lsmod didn't list any users.
