My main research interests are in the design of algorithms and data structures for processing, organizing, indexing and querying high-throughput genomics data. I am also interested in the intersection between efficient algorithms and statistical inference.

The COMBINE lab was created in the fall of 2014, when Rob Patro joined the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University. In 2019, the lab moved to the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland.

I lead the COMBINE-lab at the University of Maryland, where I am an associate professor of Computer Science and a member of UMIACS and the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
