Robert Cutler (June 12, 1895 – May 8, 1974) was an American government official who was the first person appointed as the president's National Security Advisor. He served US President Dwight Eisenhower in that role between 1953 and 1955 and from 1957 to 1958.

2023年10月11日 · At a time of intense fear and hatred of homosexuals in America, Cutler was a closeted gay man. One of the earliest decisions he faced was whether to support an executive order to ban people who had a “sexual perversion” from working in the federal government.

Since 1947 he has been president of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and has been overseer of Harvard University since 1949. In 1952 he was appointed Administrative Assistant to the President of the United States and at present is the Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.
