2023年6月12日 · Rubired is a Californian teinturier (red-fleshed) hybrid grape variety created by Dr Harold Olmo in 1958. The variety is a crossing of Portugal's Tinto Cao and Alicante Ganzin. Planted extensively in the San Joaquin Valley, Rubired is a deeply colored grape that produces generous yields.

Ruby Cabernet is the most notable and widely planted Olmo grape. It is a cross between the Vitis vinifera varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan that was first trialed by Dr. Olmo in 1936 before being released in 1948.

Rubired is used primarily for red juice concen-trate production, commonly utilized for blending purposes in the winery, as well as for food prod-ucts including fruit juices. It produces a dark red blending wine, with little character or body, and is used to increase the color of generic or varietal table and dessert wines. —Nick K. Dokoozlian

Rubired is a hybrid grape developed at UC-Davis in the 1950’s. It is a cross between Alicante Ganzin and Tinta Cao. It is very easy to grow and does quite well in the hot terroir of California’s Central Valley. Due to its relationship to Alicante Bouschet, it produces a dark red/purple juice which is used to add color in many jug wines.
