2021年3月13日 · When I joined SASS, I could only shoot Modern class because of the adjustable sights. I purchased a Navy Arms (Uberti) M1860 Henry rifle in .44-40, and wanted a sixgun to match. (In those days, SASS only shot with a single pistol.) When Ruger came out with the Vaquero in .44-40, I grabbed one. It has a 7-1/2" barrel, and is stainless steel.

2017年7月28日 · Ruger's reliability is famous. The prices seem right. Five-and-a-half inch barrels balance very well, and the .38 Spl/.357 Mangle-em should give you a lot reduced felt recoil. Obviously, whether the New Vaquero or the "old model" guns, they aren't quite Colt's for authenticity, but for SASS shooting you will get a more satisfactory outcome.

2022年4月20日 · Personally, I shoot one 7-1/2" Old Model Vaquero and one 5-1/2", both in .44-40, mainly because the longer one was the first one available in that caliber. It will depend on what feels most comfortable in your hand, but I doubt you will be able to tell much difference.

2023年11月14日 · SASS power requirements are so low, you can reload down to 38 Short Colt if you choose. Some classes of SASS require more caliber than 38, i.e. 44 or higher. Buy once, cry once. I have Bisley Vaquero pairs in both 357 and 44 mag (all are pre-2005 full size frames) You will also need a side-by-side or approved era shotgun, and same for rifle.

2017年11月9日 · OP have you actually tried the stock New Model Vaquero plastic grips? They are thin. In some dimensions they are actually thinner than many "gunfighter" grips. The "old" Vaquero grips were like 2 x 4s. The New Model Vaquero grips are very thin to start with. Before you invest $200.00 in two pair of grips try the stock ones.
