Runaan is a Moonshadow Elf assassin of the Silvergrove. He is Ethari's husband who serves as a mentor and father-figure to Rayla when her parents and his good friends, Tiadrin and Lain, joined the Dragonguard.[5]

Runaan was born inside Xadia on May 17th. He is a seasoned Moonshadow Elf assassin who resides in the Silvergrove. In his youth, he was close friends with Tiadrin and Lain, who helped him court his eventual husband Ethari.

Ethari is a talented craftsman, capable of forging swords, arrows, and accessories. His most prominent creations are the two arrows sent to Zubeia and matching Moon Opal pendants that he shared with Rayla and his husband Runaan. His weapons are of immense quality and power.

Runaan is a major character in the TV series The Dragon Prince. He is the leader of the Moonshadow Elf Assassins, the husband of Ethari and the foster father of Rayla. He was also the one who supposedly killed King Harrow and the bow used to kill him was found by Rayla when she was sneaking in the catacombs below Callum's office.
