Rydal Water is a small body of water in the central part of the English Lake District, in the county of Cumbria. It is located near the hamlet of Rydal, between Grasmere and Ambleside in the Rothay Valley. [1] The lake is 1,290 yards (1.18 km) long and varies in width up to a maximum of 380 yards (350m), covering an area of 0.12 mi 2 (0.31 km 2).

2020年5月1日 · Rydal Water is located in the heart of the Lake District and is connected to the larger lake of Grasmere to the west by the Rover Rothay. A dramatic view of the lake can be gained from "Wordsworth's Seat", a natural outcrop on the west end of the lake believed to have been one of the poet's favourite places in the Lake District.

Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes at 3/4 mile long, 1/4 mile wide and with a depth of 55 feet, but it is very popular partly because of its Wordsworth connections. Steps lead up from the western end of the lake to ‘Wordsworth’s Seat’ – reputedly the poet’s favourite viewpoint.

Around the lake are several beautiful hiking routes, along with wild swim spots, woodland and caverns to explore. Smaller and quieter than its southern neighbour Windermere, there is a lot to see and do around this small lake.

We went on a fantastic walk to Rydal Caves from Grasmere, walking around Grasmere Lake (reviewed separately) and then up to the cave (which was crazy busy!) and then back down via Rydal Water. A long walk on a very hot day but absolutely beautiful, we highly recommend.
