2011年11月26日 · The Chief's Special became the Model 36 when model numbers were assigned in 1957 or thereabouts. Model numbers are stamped on the frame inside the yoke and are visible when you have the cylinder completely open and you look on the frame where it meets the yoke, usually seen as MOD 36.

Three screw frames, bright blue; most shipped in a blue sunburst style box.

Prior to 1957-58, S&W guns were identified by name only and when S&W began assigning model numbers the Chief's Special became the Model 36. The Chief was a popular gun with detectives for plain clothes work and with uniformed officers as a back-up and off duty carry.

2017年1月19日 · I am looking at a model 36 S&W with the serial number in the 80,000 range. Does anyone know what the approximate year of manufacture is? With Winchesters and Colts, I have a book of serial number and manufacture dates. I haven't found a similar book for S&W.

2025年1月17日 · My new to me 3” model 36 will be a nice companion to my 5 shot, 3” model 60-4 (I have S&W “Target” and stock J frame grips for this along with a 9mm cylinder) My only original/authentic “K” frame Tyler grip adaptor resides on this State Police model 67-1 that once belonged to my MSP Trooper daughter.

But Thought of Y'all when a Good Friend brought me a BeYoo-T-ful Old Ol' S&W Model 36 (No Dash) in Nickel Plate.The Revolver has a Three Inch Barrel, Is about 95%- W/ only a minor Flake in the Nickle (PinHead Sized) on the Side of the Cylinder.

2015年7月18日 · The 2" and 3" "standard tapered barrels" with thin rib and non-pinned long front sight were introduced in 1950 and c. 1952 respectively on the Baby J frame. They became the Model 36 'pre dash' marked guns after c. 1957.
