The SIAI-Marchetti S.211 (later Aermacchi S-211) is a turbofan -powered military trainer aircraft designed and originally marketed by Italian aviation manufacturer SIAI-Marchetti. SIAI-Marchetti started to develop the S-211 in 1976 as a private venture initiative, announcing its existence during the following year.

Powered by a Pratt & Whitney JT15D-4D turbofan engine with 2,500 pounds of thrust, the Marchetti S211 has a maximum speed of 414 knots and rate of climb of 4,199 feet per minute. The aircraft is equipped with retractable landing gear, air brakes, boosted ailerons, and an electric system powered by an engine-driven generator.

SIAI Marchetti S211 was developed as a military jet pilot trainer. It has full acrobatic capability and can be armed with a range of weapon systems. Powered by a single P&W JT15D-4C engine, the aircraft provides excellent flight performance in the mission role and in acrobatic demonstrations.

The S211 is an Italian trainer that can also be used as a light attack aircraft. The compact S211 resembles the British Hawk trainer/light attack aircraft and can be used for many of the same missions. It is, however, much lighter and smaller than the Hawk.

2018年4月1日 · The Very Light Jet concept didn’t yet exist when Italian manufacturer SIAI-Marchetti developed and first flew its S.211 prototype in 1981. The aircraft was designed as a military trainer and light attack aircraft, but it didn’t sell well, and only about 60 were produced when the assembly line closed in 1994.
