In this week’s newsletter, I will be clarifying the different roles and responsibilities between the SACQSP (the Council) and ASAQS (the Association) and thereby clearing up many common misconceptions.

The South African Council for Quantity Surveyors (SACQSP) introduced a system of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all quantity surveyors registered in terms of the Quantity Surveyors' Act (36 of 1970), effective from 1January 1999.

Routes to Registration - The SA Council for the QS Profession

The SACQSP Code of Conduct establishes clear ethical and professional guidelines to be followed by registered persons and practices. Its primary purpose is to uphold the dignity, credibility, and reputation of the quantity surveying profession by promoting high standards of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

The SACQSP fundamental mandate is to establish a professional Code of Conduct and the enforcement of the code thereby protecting the public from unethical behaviour from within the quantity surveying profession.
