QFS (Quick File System) is a filesystem from Oracle. It is tightly integrated with SAM, the Storage and Archive Manager, and hence is often referred to as SAM-QFS. SAM provides the functionality of a hierarchical storage manager. QFS supports some volume management capabilities, allowing many disks to be grouped together into a file system.

The SAM-QFS environment includes a storage and archive manager along with Sun QFS file system software. The SAM-QFS software enables data to be archived to automated libraries at device-rated speeds. In addition, data can be archived to files in another file system through a process known as disk archiving.
