2015年6月7日 · Tests I've done show throughput drops proportionally to number of SATA drives connected to southbridge and results were horrific for 6 drives used simultaneously on Intel southbridge. SAS controller on your motherboard is probably LSI using 4 pcie lanes - throughput was the same if you use 1 or 12 SAS drives (i lost the link to that blog I made).

2020年2月8日 · On my motherboard, the ASUS Z9PA-D8, it says that it has a row of 8 SAS ports for connecting to SAS hard drives. Your getting confused. Your motherboard documentation indicates that the ASUS Pike 2008 add-on card is required for those 8 ports to work. 2019年5月21日 · We have a Dell PowerEdge T330 server. This machine has 8 hard drive bays which support either SAS or SATA drives. Currently, they're all SATA. We're looking to upgrade one of the RAID arrays to SAS drives, but from what I've seen, this machine expects one or the other, not a combination of both.

The problem seems to be with the SAS drives. I have swaped the 15k rpm SAS drives for two new SATA III 7.2k rpm drives, used them to build a new RAID 0 array off the same controller, dumped my Vista 64 OS onto it from an image I just made …

ECC corrected errors aren't much of a worry on SCSI/SAS drives, we have drives deployed with hundreds of millions of them and they still run fine. Correction algorithm invocations is a bit more serious, those may require rereading/rewriting the disk, and retrying the ECC calculation.
