I don’t like not being able to see the result of coding as I go along, like I would in R or even Python. Not to mention, it doesn’t run on Mac systems, and their free university software (that I’ve been using) does not allow you to copy and paste.

If/when you transition out your work experience and proven programming will carry enough wait. I've been doing this for 20 years and have forgotten more languages than most fresh grads know.
