2012年4月19日 · Great, thanks for your help. I've also found no evidence that SAS is better than SATA for SSDs. I've also found some SSDs which are 1/6 of the price of the Dell SATA ones (£265 vs £1590), with excellent reliability and performance even under heavy load and a 5 year warranty (OCZ Vertex 4 256MB).

2012年4月19日 · " I thought they both operated at 6Gbps these days" They are, both throughput as to 6Gb are the same as to interface standards.How it works out, SATA is less robust as to the interface command structure (less overhead) but each SSD make/model vary (SAS or SATA) vary considerable in performance..new/evolving technology without standardization.

2015年6月7日 · The Seagate knowledgebase article Connecting SATA drive to SAS controller confirms you can do this: The use of SATA hard drives on SAS controllers is made possible by the fact that both share the same infrastructure and have similar features. SATA drives may be plugged into SAS controllers. SAS drives cannot be plugged into SATA controllers.

2007年5月16日 · SATA drives are tuned for single user workstation tasks and the 160GB Dell Raptor is a very nice fast and relatively quiet drive. If you want better RAID controller features then you will need to go SAS or at least I felt I needed to.
