On January 1, 2022, Senate Bill (SB) 2, which established a certification and decertification program for certain peace oficers, took efect (Stats. 2021, c. 409 (S.B.2), § 12, ef. Jan. 1,2022).

SB 2 established a statewide system to decertify or suspend officers who have committed serious misconduct.
