Flagging and Communications, the F&C people, can be found all the way around the course on any race day. Next to the drivers, the flaggers are the most visible people on the track.
From Daytona to Long Beach the people in white congregate. Some also work IRL, ARCA, and other left turning races. Gender and race is a non-issue, all flaggers are equally welcome and wanted. This package provides you, the novice flagger, with basic flagging and communication (more commonly known as F&C) information.
don't worry—SCCA has many other ways for you to participate. Flag or turn marshals (flaggers) are an important part of any race event, and doing the job well requires your attention and willingness to learn.

In addition to being a keystone in this important role at SCCA events, IndyCar, IMSA, NASCAR and F1 also use SCCA flagging and communication officials and you can frequently find SCCA members stationed on corner at events like the 24 Hours of Daytona the US Grand Prix, the Canadian Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Race Services Inc., typically uses the standard SCCA Flagging Guidelines. Flags are used to convey information to the driver about course conditions ahead or to summon a driver into the pits. Some flags are displayed motionless or steady, while others are waved.

Track Flags - Chicago Region SCCA
Track flags are traditionally used in auto racing and similar motorsports to indicate track condition and to communicate important messages to drivers. Typically, the starter, sometimes the grand marshal of a race, waves the flags atop a flag stand near the start/finish line.
