The GE U36B is a four-axle 3,600 hp (2.7 MW) B-B diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Electric from 1969 to 1974. It was primarily used by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and its successors, although thirteen provided the power for the original Auto Train .

SCL 1776 was the nation’s first Bicentennial unit, being built in June 1971. It was actually the second SCL U36B numbered 1776. The first was delivered in standard black and yellow paint. When later production unit 1803 was chosen to receive the special commemorative scheme, the original 1776 was renumbered as 1813.

2025年3月17日 · According to a Lake Shore Railway Historical Society Museum news release, MCVX U36B No. 7764 was last with the Firefighters Education and Training Foundation in Massachusetts as a training locomotive for firefighters. The locomotive carried MCVX reporting marks and the last number it had when it was part of CSX Transportation's active roster.
