The Office of University Access Programs (UAP) at Southern Connecticut State University celebrates and uplifts first-generation and underrepresented scholars. By providing holistic support, dedicated mentoring, and financial literacy, we create a nurturing environment that inspires academic achievement, personal growth, and professional excellence.

Dawn Stanton is the Director of University Access Programs (UAP). She came to Southern as a student in the Southern Educational Opportunity Program (SEOP) summer academy in 1986, which became a life-changing experience that shaped her values and belief in her ability to thrive academically in college.

The Southern Educational Opportunity Program (SEOP) is designed to support students with potential who may not meet traditional admission criteria at Southern Connecticut State University. SEOP offers a pathway to success through two key initiatives: the Summer Academy and the Academic Year Initiative.

The SCSU PASS program has four components: academic enhancements, social-emotional learning, advocacy, and career exploration. All of the supports and services offered are grounded in alleviating obstacles to academic success, while holistically supporting students.

UAP promotes holistic growth through one-on-one advocacy with all their students.
