This program provides scholarships for up to 3 years of support for cybersecurity undergraduate and graduate (MS or PhD) education. The scholarships are funded through grants awarded by the National Science Foundation.

To be eligible for consideration for an SFS scholarship, a student must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States and be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a coherent formal program that is focused on cybersecurity at an awardee institution, or research-based doctoral student.

The SFS program helps hiring managers by providing scholarships to the finest candidates from institutions with some of the top cybersecurity programs in the country. Many are National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) designated institutions and institutions with equivalent designation.

Today the U.S. National Science Foundation announced six new academic institutions are being awarded CyberCorps® Scholarship for Service (SFS) grants. BYU has been designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) since 2012.
