Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is an international Nichiren Buddhist organization founded in 1975 by Daisaku Ikeda, as an umbrella organization of Soka Gakkai. It is run by two vice-presidents, including Hiromasa Ikeda, son of the founder. It claims 12 million adherents, but scholars claim the number is overestimated.

At its latest meeting, SGI youth took action—amplifying survivor testimonies, presenting research on youth awareness in nuclear-affected countries, and participating in the Youth MSP, a gathering of young leaders working to strengthen youth engagement in nuclear abolition.

Nichiren Shōshū excommunicated the Soka Gakkai and the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) on 28 November 1991 due to doctrinal conflicts and the reputation of the Soka Gakkai, at that time entangled in political and financial scandals.

Each local organisation carries out activities in the spirit of respecting cultural diversity while following a common daily Buddhist practice. From August 31 to September 4, a total of 106 youth from 44 countries and territories participated in the SGI Youth Training Course in Tokyo, Japan. The event featured a study session, exchange meetings and participation in the Soka Gakkai Headquarters Leaders Meeting on September 2.
