Sh2-224 is a supernova remnant visible in the constellation of Auriga. It is situated 3.5 ° to SSE of the bright star Capella, the dominant star of the constellation.

SHO-image of Sharpless 223, 224, 225 and 227 in the constellation Auriga. Sh2-224 is a very faint supernova remnant at distance of about 14700 light years (in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way). Sh2-223, Sh2-225 and Sh2-227 are faint emission nebulae, H II regions.

Sh2 -227 is an emission nebula visible in the constellation Auriga. It is located within the large pentagon that constitutes the constellation, approximately 1° south of the star λ Aurigae and a short distance from the open cluster NGC 1857, seen at the top of this image.

This image captures the faint Hα nebulae and open star clusters scattered around μAur, which is located 7.5 degrees south of Capella in the pentagon of Auriga. Sh2-227 is a nebula with an apparent diameter of over 20 arc minutes in the upper left. It is almost circular, and you can see that there is unevenness inside.

2024年1月22日 · Sh2-225 with its “ring” looks like the grabber, and sh2-227 is the prize 😂 It must be some very faint Ha in the middle if 17.5 hours of rasa hasn’t pulled it out. Great as always Goran, and it’s nice to see images of objects rarely seen (if at all)
