The SKS in WW2...
2010年10月5日 · "A small number of SKS rifles were tested on the front line in early 1945 against the Germans in World War II. Design-wise, the SKS relies on the AVS-36 (developed by same designer) to a point that some consider it a shortened AVS-36, stripped of select-fire capability and rechambered for the 7.62x39mm cartridge."

SVT 40 vs SKS
2011年9月19日 · The SVT-40 weighed in (empty mag) at 8.85lbs and the SKS weighed in at 8.95lbs. I would have thought the SKS would be a tad lighter, but I guess the thicker milling on the SKS makes up for the longer length on the SVT-40. As far as recoil goes, it's similar to the SKS, like RM said, but I'd say exactly like a PSL/Dragunov.

What year/configuration is the most rare/collectible Russian SKS?
2007年1月18日 · The really rare one would be a 1944-1945 vintage Russian SKS. I know of none in the U.S. Very rare is the version with the Tula star on the receiver cover with no date beneath it. Then the 1949 Tula with the spike bayonet, 1949 Tula with the knife bayonet, Izhevsk 1953 date, Izhevsk 1954 date, then any date in unrefurbed condition.
