Images taken through Retrotink 5X in 1440p and 4:3 Generic, everything default. Captured with an Elgato HD60 S+ USB capture device running through OBS, recording uncompressed video and took the screenshots from the recorded video.

2019年9月6日 · The jump in quality from a 2chip SNES to a 1chip SNES is probably larger than the jump in quality from s-video to component. That is to say a 1chip hooked up with s-video will look overall better than a 2chip with component/RGB cables. FYI I'm playing my 1chip SNES on my Sony CRT, the KV-27FV310.

2020年2月12日 · Component vs RGB makes a much bigger difference than 1chip vs 2chip. You can use an RGB cable and an OSSC. Use the reverse low pass filter to make a 2chip look like a 1chip. Google OSSC snes deblur for examples.

2022年7月11日 · 1-chip SNES consoles are overrated. They give a minor bump in video sharpness in exchange for lower game compatibility and more bugs. For 16-bit games, sharper analog video isn’t necessarily better, as the pixel patterns are supposed to blend a bit.

Personally, if I already had a non-1chip SNES, I probably wouldn't bother spending whatever a 1chip costs, just to get a sharper picture. But on the other hand, the whole point of going the RGB/PVM route is to get a sharper picture, so once you've done all that, why hamper yourself with a blurry SNES?
