It was July 24th of 1989. Two mountaineers from Tokyo who were climbing towards Asahidake mountain in Hokkaido, Japan went missing. Rescuers were searching for them via helicopter when they came across a giant SOS laid on the ground, made from birch logs near the start of the Chubetsugawa river.

This was supported by the fact that a few days after the incident was discovered, a news media interview team who visited the site was unable to escape from the area and was rescued. It was similar to the Dyatlov pass incident where a large group of people where mysteriously murdered out in the wilderness. Each victim had unique and unexplained injuries.
