2024年4月29日 · The Boeing 2707 was a supersonic passenger airliner mockup designed and developed by Boeing in the 1960s. The large supersonic transport (SST) aircraft was designed to carry 250-300 passengers with targeted speeds of approximately Mach 3.0. The Boeing 2707 was considered superior to the competition, including the Concorde.

2023年6月28日 · Despite many learning effects that found their way into later Boeing models, such as glass cockpits with LCD screens, the only visible remainder was a huge, original-size mock-up of the Boeing SST or Boeing 2707. In fact, there have been two such mock-ups in the second half of the 1960s.

The final-configuration Boeing 2707 mockup was sold to a museum and displayed at the SST Aviation Exhibit Center in Kissimmee, Florida, from 1973 to 1981. In 1983, the building, complete with SST, was purchased by the Faith World church.

On New Year's Eve 1966, after more than 14 years of study, design work and competition, the U.S. federal government selected Boeing to build the prototype for the country's first supersonic transport (SST). Twenty-six airlines ordered 122 of the transports.

After winning a competition for a government-funded contract to build an American SST, Boeing began development at its facilities in Seattle, Washington. The design emerged as a large aircraft with seating for 250 to 300 passengers and cruise speeds of approximately Mach 3.

2002年3月6日 · Does anyone know if the 1:1 Mock-up of the SST plane still exists? I saw a picture at a museum homepage where the nose section is stored. ( Hiller Aviation Museum) Boeing did win the US competition of designing a Super Sonic Plane in the 60`s / 70`s, and then they build a real escale mock-up with complete cockpit and cabin.

Boeing built a full-scale, wing and fuselage proof-of-concept mock-up of the proposed airliner in the late 1960s. In 1966 the Boeing SST proposal was chosen by the U.S. government to be the country's first supersonic airliner, then in competition with the European Concorde and the Soviet Union's Tu-144 SST programs.

The Museum of Flight, Seattle, WA acquired the forward 89 feet of the Boeing SST Engineering Mockup from the Hiller Aviation Museum, San Carlos, CA. We were contracted to load and transport the mockup. It traveled on two trailers.
