Before STS-135 was manifested, there was some consideration to launch an extra space shuttle mission, STS-136, using the shuttle Endeavour one final time, and ET-94, which was a spare Lightweight External Tank stored at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. The ISS assembly codename for this proposed mission was "ULF8".

During NASA 's Space Shuttle program, several missions were canceled. Many were canceled as a result of the Challenger and the Columbia disasters or due to delays in the development of the shuttle. Others were canceled because of changes in payload and mission requirements.

The Astrovan easter egg is a sunken NASA crew transport van found near the runway. It is part of the Space Sailors lore and directly ties into the STS-136 poster, and the encrypted messages. In the poster, it says that 3 people and the Astrovan were swept up in a tsunami. You can see the Astrovan near the runway.
