2013年11月21日 · Awarded by the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), the contract covers conversion of the German military’s existing monopulse secondary surveillance radar 2000 I (MSSR 2000I) systems to the new Mode 5 standard in multiple steps.

This technique is known as Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR). The improved accuracy of MSSR allows radar separation minima to be reduced by about one half - to 3 nm if the aircraft is within 40 nm of the antenna and 5 nm if more than 40nm from the radar antenna.

Saab has received an additional order from the U.S. Navy for the Sea Giraffe Multi Mode Radar (MMR) for the Coast Guard’s offshore patrol cutter. This additional order exercises an option on an existing contract which was initially awarded in 2017 and includes multiple line item options for additional Sea Giraffe MMR systems.
