The Sabre is the shallow draft edition and the space and layout seem very comparable to the IP38. Although we both agree that the Catalina 42 is one of the best value sail boats ever built, he was wrestling with how any one would buy a Sabre 426 for upwards of $450K vs a Catalina 42 at 250K or so.

2024年2月1日 · I have raced against a Sabre 42 that was rigged with a symmetric spinnaker. It is a very large sail and a big pole. They raced short handed and were quite fast, but it was a handful for them. They could sail deeper than I could, which is a big advantage, but I had a much easier time with sail handling, particularly with the furler.

2001年1月13日 · In terms of build quality, the Sabre should be better built than the Bristol 40s but a slight step below the 38.8. The Bristol 38.8 is a nice boat both in terms of finish work and build quality. If I was looking for a boat to go offshore with and this was your question the Bristol 38.8 might edge out the others.
