Or what about Tanjiro and Nezuko's story, which led them to become Demon Slayers in the first place? No matter what you choose, they're all devastating.

It doesn't make anyone less hurt or less sad when bad things happen, whatever breadth it is. KnY instead focuses on supporting people to just keep going forward and doing their best (i.e. Tanjirou's meeting and exchange with the tuberculosis kid), and I really appreciate the universality of that message.

When we talk about character backgrounds of the UMs in KnY, the fandom often cite Koku and Akaza as some of the most well done and tragic, even Daki and Gyutaro's.

2022年2月11日 · Obanai's backstory is extremely fucked up, though maybe not quite as sad in the "makes me cry" kind of way. That would probably go to Akaza or Yoriichi for me (the scene where Yoriichi holds Sumiyoshi's child always makes me tear up a bit).
