2003年10月1日 · The RPL was the "original" fast action Sage rod, but by today's standards, I think it would be considered "medium-fast". Great rod and action that fits a variety of casting styles. The RPL+ is different.

2011年8月31日 · Sage made 3 series of fly rods with the RP (Reserve Power) designation. The RP followed by the RPL (the L for Light), then the RPL+. After they discontinued the RPL and replaced it with the RPL+, there were fishers that still wanted the original RPL and so Sage continued making the RPL as the VPS series of fly rods.

2012年8月31日 · However, RPL/RPLX(i) where great rods at the top of their class in their day and tough as nails. When I got those Sage's they were new up-grades over rods I had earlier which did not make my older rods "bad" rods. Same holds today; a new Sage "Method" #8 might be a major upgrade over an old RPLXi, but the old Sage is still a fine rod.

2015年11月13日 · Back in the day ('95), I sold my new 5 wt RPL+ and went back to my older RPL. The fact that the RPL+ only lasted 2 years ('95-97)and the RPL blank was reintroduced as the VPS in '97 shows that the RPL+ was not well received by the majority of fly fishers. By comparison, the RPL blank was made from '85-95 and than reintroduced as the VPS in '97.

2014年4月11日 · The RPL overall is a light rod, but that does not mean it will translate in to a lighter feeling rod. The 796-4 RPL I had was much lighter, I think 3 7/16 ozs. compared to my 896-4 XP at 4 1/4 ozs. The RPL felt heavier (swing weight).
