Sage VXP, is it a good streamer rod? | The North American Fly …
2016年6月21日 · If you're tossing normal sized streamers and dont battle huge winds the VXP in my opinion would be fine. I used to have a legend ultra (medium fast) 6wt and it was fine. I did recently get a Sage ONE 691-4 for streamers because I am going more where the wind howls and were prone to use a big streamer lead wrapped and tungsten coned.
Initial impressions Sage VXP 9 ft 5 weight
2015年12月24日 · In my opinion, Sage has over rated the VXP rod action for a true 5 wt rod. The rod is light and very smooth in it's action. Smooth fly rods tend to be slower action fly rods that without any abrupt transitions in flex/deflection profile. I would like to see the deflection chart of the Sage VXP compared to the other Sage rods that are classified ...
Sage XP vs VXP? | The North American Fly Fishing Forum
2015年7月7日 · Would I pay full price $500, no. I have 5 (8.0, 8.5, two 9.0, and 10.0 ft) other 5 wt rods I can use. The VXP is my 6th 5 wt rod and 3rd 9 footer. So for me to pay $500 for another 9 ft 5 wt rod, it would have to be $500 better than the ones I have. Cabela's - Sage VXP Fly Rods customer reviews - product reviews - read top consumer ratings
Any sage VXP users here? | The North American Fly Fishing Forum ...
2013年9月21日 · So over the years I have owned and fished many 9' 5 weight "all-rounder" rods, after many rediculous and frustrating rod purchases I have settled on the sage VXP 9' 5 weight and absolutely adore this stick from craftsmanship to raw performance in nymphing, dry fly, soft hackle swing, streamer stripping to single hand spey and roll casting, this ...
New 5wt recs - currently use Sage VXP
2017年6月19日 · I currently use a Sage VXP 9' 5wt (have had it about 4 years). I'm looking for a second 5wt rod - I often need a second one for friends / family but rather than buy a cheap one for that purpose I'd like to upgrade my rod and keep the VXP for others (or backup). What current rods have similar...
Winston Passport Vs. Sage VXP. Best all-around?
2014年8月8日 · The VXP is a fast rod, however unlike most sage models has a progressive flex, very unique taper that gets overlooked by experienced anglers. Due to this progressive dry fly fishing is top notch. I know I'm sounding preachy, but I …
How does Sage XP compare to VXP and the RPL?
2020年3月19日 · I have a 906 VXP and have fished a friends 906 XP. Both are great, versatile rods. The XP will be more like the VXP than the RPL, but still quite a bit faster. If my heart were set on a Sage, I'd just save up to go get a new X. It costs $125 to have warranty work done on rods as old as the XP, and $75 for the VXP.
The New Sage VXP | The North American Fly Fishing Forum
2011年2月11日 · The VXP is not the old XP. Sage took the XP blank and softened it up. This rod has a completely different feel than the XP. Sage considers the VXP a medium fast action. As for casting, it is a nice stick. Its action is on the quicker side of the spectrum for medium fast rods. It can throw tight loops for streamers, wets, and dries.

2017年3月28日 · The VXP was discontinued by Sage three years ago. I don't know if Cabela's just has a whole bunch left in stock or whether Sage is still making the VXP exclusively for them in a limited range of sizes, but they constantly have the VXP on the site and usually on sale.
9' six weight - Sage VXP vs Scott Flex
2017年4月20日 · My go-to/general use trout rod is a 9' #6 VXP. I use it for nymphs, dries, and streamers, mostly nymphs and streamers even though it's a great dry fly rod. I also use the MPX line, but I'd go with something else for dries. It generates lots of line speed while maintaining enough delicacy to be acceptable for a 6 weight.
